He fell fighting during the Turkish invasion of 1974 and he was considered to be a missing person until recently, when his remains were found in a mass grave and identified using the DNA method.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_toggle_section av-7mc7sm-72cbf2a78d7406e4b0a30e965d4a3057'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div role=\"tablist\" class=\"single_toggle\" data-tags=\"{All} \"  ><p id='toggle-toggle-id-2' data-fake-id='#toggle-id-2' class='toggler  av-title-above '  itemprop=\"headline\"  role='tab' tabindex='0' aria-controls='toggle-id-2' data-slide-speed=\"200\" data-title=\"Savvas Loizou\" data-title-open=\"\" data-aria_collapsed=\"Click to expand: Savvas Loizou\" data-aria_expanded=\"Click to collapse: Savvas Loizou\">Savvas Loizou<span class=\"toggle_icon\"><span class=\"vert_icon\"><\/span><span class=\"hor_icon\"><\/span><\/span><\/p><div id='toggle-id-2' aria-labelledby='toggle-toggle-id-2' role='region' class='toggle_wrap  av-title-above'  ><div class='toggle_content invers-color '  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>He was the third out of the seven children of Loizos and Styliani Loizou.<\/p>\n<p>He was born on February 22<sup>nd<\/sup> 1947 in Pigenia and he attended the seven-form school of the village.<\/p>\n<p>At the age of 15 he left his village and moved to Nicosia to seek for a better life working as a furniture manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p>Upon completing his army duties he returned to his village and in 1967 he was called to fight at the battles of Kofinou as a private soldier.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, Savvas Loizou was killed fighting on July 22<sup>nd<\/sup> 1974, during the Turkish invasion.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4482 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/pigenia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/mnimio_savvas_loizou.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"244\" height=\"207\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<section class='av_toggle_section av-5cjopi-2c04c6b3275dd2cb51bd6f0500ab6793'  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div role=\"tablist\" class=\"single_toggle\" data-tags=\"{All} \"  ><p id='toggle-toggle-id-3' data-fake-id='#toggle-id-3' class='toggler  av-title-above '  itemprop=\"headline\"  role='tab' tabindex='0' aria-controls='toggle-id-3' data-slide-speed=\"200\" data-title=\"Pavlos Mavrogenous \" data-title-open=\"\" data-aria_collapsed=\"Click to expand: Pavlos Mavrogenous \" data-aria_expanded=\"Click to collapse: Pavlos Mavrogenous \">Pavlos Mavrogenous <span class=\"toggle_icon\"><span class=\"vert_icon\"><\/span><span class=\"hor_icon\"><\/span><\/span><\/p><div id='toggle-id-3' aria-labelledby='toggle-toggle-id-3' role='region' class='toggle_wrap  av-title-above'  ><div class='toggle_content invers-color '  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Pavlos Mavrogenous was married to Stavroula and already had six children when he got caught in the middle of gunfire and killed while leaving the village. In particular, Pavlos Mavrogenous was a national guard serving at a company of the area and when the incident happened he, along with the priest of the Community and the police commissioner of Kato Pyrgos, were in a police vehicle on their way to offer help to the rest of the national guards of the Platia Schoinia. He fell fighting during the Turkish invasion in 1974 in the area of Agios Georgios in Keryneia.<\/p>\n<p>He was considered to be a missing person until recently, when his remains were found in a mass grave at the G.S. Praxandros stadium in Keryneia and identified using the DNA method.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4483 size-full\" August 9, 1964.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, during the same year and more specifically on September 4, an undetonated bomb killed four-month old baby Georgia
