Greeting by the President of the Community!

Dear friends!

It is an honour being president of the Pigenia Community Council.

Upon assuming my duties as community president I was fully aware of the respect and attention I would have to pay towards this historic, cultural, archaeological and environmental village called Pigenia. What is more, I was, in advance, aware of the problems this remote village is facing due to my previous experience as member of the community council. Therefore, every citizen of Pigenia is obliged to contribute to this village in order to show their love for it, otherwise our community runs the risk of becoming extinct. It is up to us to preserve our village and reinstate the community to what it used to be.

Every citizen of Pigenia should dedicate part of their holidays to visit the birthplace of their parents and grandparents. I know that for this to happen a lot of hard work is required.

Personally, I am going to do everything within my powers so that we can achieve this goal. I am certain that several people share my thoughts and will stand by me in my efforts to develop our village, Pigenia.

Through this website I believe we can communicate much better and especially with our expatriates. At the same time, foreign visitors will have the opportunity to get to know the area and be tempted to visit it. All in all, we shall try to present the history of the village, as well as its natural beauties and the activities performed by its remaining residents.

Your proposals and comments regarding any mistakes and omissions will help us create the perfect website for our village.

Finally, I am confident that a simple visit both to our website and village will make you feel differently about it and help you learn more about a remote part of Cyprus.

Thank you

Aggeliki Filippou
